Free Flu Vaccines – Who Is Eligible?
Every year, flu season can cause serious illness, especially in vulnerable groups. The following people are eligible for a free flu vaccine under the National Immunisation Program:
- Children aged 6 months to under 5 years
- Adults aged 65 years and over
- Pregnant women (at any stage of pregnancy)
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 6 months and older
- Anyone aged 6 months and over with a chronic medical condition (such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease, or compromised immunity)
If you or your family members fall into any of these categories, we encourage you to book your flu vaccination appointment as early as possible once the vaccine program commences ahead of the influenza peak in June to September.
